This is an excellent full grain leather, goretex-free boot. I use it primarily for long walks (8-15 miles) along country highways or on city streets and trails. I walk with poles (Nordic walking). The boot has excellent support, is slightly narrower than D width (my feet are actually C width), and grows more comfortable the longer one walks in it.

I used these right out of the box with no break in period for a back country bushwhack fishing trip in the Adirondacks. I covered about three miles while carrying a boat and another three miles of hiking and the boots worked great. They were very comfortable and had plenty of support and traction. These replaced a pair of Perfekt Hikers that I got from Cabelas and I'm glad that I got these. I look forward to using them in the back country for hunting this fall.

These are excellent boots. There is nothing better than stepping in slop and having dry feet.

After comparing these boots to the Scarpa SL M3 and Asolo TPS 520, I chose these for overall comfort. The Scarpa's simply had too narrow of a toe-box, and the Asolo were too restrictive around the ankle. With actually no break-in time, I took these to Everest base camp trail. I used a superfeet insert (orange) and double layer of socks. I only got one blister the whole trip and it was relatively small. These boots are lightweight and truly a great find!

I bought these to replace a 10 year old pair of Tecnica boots. You can get lighter boots, but I always prefer full grain leather for the stability. They also have fewer seams, which mean fewer places for leaks to develop. Cosmetically, I also prefer this look to some of the more space-age or techno-looking boots with lots of stitching, stripes, or whatever. This is a good, classic look for a hiking boot. Very comfortable out of the box. A little stiff at first, which is to be expected with full grain leather, but by the end of the first day they were loosening up nicely. I haven't had the opportunity to fully test them on the backpacking trail, but a few weekend campouts with my son's scout troop have given a favorable impression so far. The rocker-style sole took a little getting used to, but it quickly became unnoticeable and does seem to work as described to propel you forward with less effort. Good support, comfortable footbed (which will be even more comfortable when I replace the stock insert with a Superfeet Green insert, as on my prior boots), and they have stayed bone-dry through torrential rain, low creek crossings, and numerous puddles. I am very pleased with these. They are pricey, if you compare them to what you find at your local big-box sporting goods store, but that is an apples to oranges comparison. Quality boots are a different product altogether. Many of the better boots are in this price range and higher. If they last 10 years, like my old pair of Tecnicas, they will have cost reasonably on a per month basis. These are as good as anything out there; and a good value for the money.

Awesome boot. No Gore-Tex! I was looking for a lighter boot than my Danners, and this fit the bill. Super comfortable, big toe box, and very well made.

These are the most expensive boots that I have ever purchased. I bought them primarily because of the editors choice they won in Backpacker's Magazine. These are made with very high quality standards and it shows. They are great all around boots. They had a quick break in period, very flexible, yet rigid enough to support heavy loads. I have not had any of the traction issues that some buyers complained about with these boots. I have tried Keens, Salomons, Asolos, you name it but none of them are on par with these boots. I know the price is a little steep but you will not be disappointed. Just get them! And a couple years down the road you have not got to throw them out when you have worn the sole out because they are resolable! I have nothing bad to say about these boots.

My double socked foot for hiking: 280mm long, 111mm wide, Euro size 44. Boot: US 10.5, Euro 45. Length long, by 1/2 size maybe a little more. Width was great for my forefoot. One size chart said my foot was an E width, boot is a D. Boot seems larger than Vioz GT for same size. Some wiggle room for toes, more than other boots I tried but not a lot. Foot bed comfortable, well shaped. Boot has a pronounced rocking motion to help roll into the step; I liked that. My heel is pulling up as I step when with 70lb son on back. I read elsewhere this means I need smaller size boot, or to lace boot better. I know how to lace boots, so I think I just need a 1/2 size smaller. Thank goodness for the return policy here! The no fear return policy keeps me coming back to Zappos every time I need hard to find footwear.

I could not believe how comfortable these boots were from the very beginning. I put them on, walked through the woods around our house, came back and left them on for the rest of the day. They are remarkable. I did not want to take them off. They fit and feel like a pair of fine leather gloves. I love them. Hope to get another pair just like these very soon.

I compared these boots to the Timberland Chocorua Trail with Gore-Tex, the Lowa Renegade GTX Mid, and the Vasque Vista UltraDry. To help others compare, my feet are average to slightly wide and I have thick ankles. Overall these are awesome boots! They are a little stiff but the way that the sole is constructed, it permits the foot to move naturally. I think they will require a little break in time, but not too bad. The combination of excellent ankle support and excellent arch support won me over. They are suitable for backpacking as well as day hikes. They are on the heavy side, but I much prefer heavier, protective boots over lighter, cooler boots. The trade off is worth it for me. The other boots I tried seemed to be various upgrades over a really good pair of tennis shoes. That is not what I am looking for in hiking boots. If you are a serious hiker, give these boots serious consideration. They are pricey, but noticeably more comfortable and supportive than the other boots that I tried.

The most well-built and comfortable "right-out-of-the-box" boot I've ever owned. Even while being very stiffly sided and topped, they flex in all the right places like you've worn them for years. And they look beautiful on top of that! I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a great quality boot.

After trying on a dozen boots, I've finally found a boot that fits my very narrow feet and doesn't aggravate my planter's fasciitis. And my hips and knees have stopped hurting! Zamberlan boots are so much more comfortable than all the other brands I've tried. Both the Zamberlan Vioz and the Zamberlan Skill are wonderful. And Zappos service can't be beat!

These are by far the best boots I have purchased. They are very comfortable. I work outside on my feet all day and guess what, they are not from China. Like Uggs and Keen. I do have med width feet and they fit prefect.

Very comfortable and appear to be quite rugged. They are great in bad weather, warm and water proof. Also they required no break in period. I am pleased with them.

I got these for my boyfriend, who is very outdoors-y, and he absolutely loves them. He said they are extremely comfortable, and are durable for when he is hiking or working on house projects.

These are by far the best boots I've ever owned. Possibly the best pair of shoes I've ever worn. I only buy the best shoes, and these are the top in quality. That they are hand made in Italy only makes them an incredible value. As I get older I've learned to buy once and enjoy for years. Don't be lured by flashy brand names and fashion. There is no substitute for true quality.

I just recieved these boots. They are very sturdy and comfortable. Overall they just seem like big boots. They are very cushy on the feet. I hope I still like them as time goes by, otherwise they were a very exspensive mistake.

These boots are made very well and are very comfortable right out of the box. My issue with them is that they are so stiff and un-flexible that after wearing them for a few hours, my feet began to hurt in ways that they never have before, which I assume is from how stiff they are in certain areas. However, they don't rub or feel uncomfortable on the foot, so I am hopeful that they just need a decent break-in period. Other reviews mention that they do take a while to break in.Overall, you can definitely tell this is a quality boot. My only advice would be to NOT rely on these for a long day at work on your feet, or a hiking trip, until you've given them some time to break in. I gave them 4 stars because I totally expect them to be perfect once broken in, but I have not had them long enough to say for sure.
