Pearl Izumi Reviews
I bought these shorts for spin class (I go at least once a week, for an hour). When I put them on I noticed how soft and light they were. They don't ride up at all! The padding takes a little getting used to but really makes a difference once you're in the saddle. I went up a size because it looked like they ran small (according to the measurements) and they fit quite well. I normally wear a small/2/4 and got a medium in these.
Love this shoe! Most comfortable running shoe I have trained in. Great racing shoe, very light, flexible yet enough cushioning for 10K or longer events. Ventilation is outstanding for hot days, excellent sock-free fit and comfort, works well with wet feet (transition from swim), but requires a bit of extra tugging on at tongue. Otherwise perfect. Speed laces work great. I am tempted to wear this shoe for casual hanging out and travel due to comfort. Did I mention that I love this shoe?
I've been wearing Pearl Izumi's exclusively for 6 years or so and have noticed a recent decline in quality and a definite change in fit. After trying two different pairs this week I will have to return to Mizunos. These are definitely running small and the arch support seems minimal compared to past Pearls and the toe box is not as roomy.
Love these shoes...cannot believe how lightweight they are. I have a wide foot and felt they were very comfortable fitting.
I had the same problem. There is a bulky seam that runs right across the beds of the toenails and I actually lost all of my toenails running a 15K and a half in these. Currently wearing only sandals and running in toeshoes and toesocks until my feet heal because I can't wear shoes. Will be seeking another shoe before I start marathon training in 2 months. Very disappointed. Will be cute with my jeans this coming winter...sigh.
I actually bought a different pair of shoes from Zappos and had to return them - bought these at a bike shop. The shoes I am returning were the right size, but felt really uncomfortable around the toe box. I put these on and the difference was night and day - snug (as bike shoes should be) but comfortable. I wore them only once so far and they worked great. My toes were a little tingly by the end of class, but I was wearing socks that were too thick, and I think these will give over time as they are fabric. I wear a size 7 US and the 38 fit great.
I really like these. I am a pretty small build person and ordered a small (5'4, 114lbs). They fit great and are really good for those rides where you know it just isn't going to get warm. I am always cold. The only thing that's a little annoying is that the grippers just below the knees don't really squeeze my legs and they ride up just a bit in the knee area. I've got pretty skinny legs though. They look really good on too. I prefer the 'orange' chamois that PI produces. Very comfortable.
These shoes do run small. I'm typically a 39 EU, 8.5 US. I tried these shoes on in a store before ordering since I read reviews that they run small. The 40 was too small, the 41 was too big. I ordered the 40.5 (which they didn't have in store for me to try), so hopefully they'll be perfect!
Like everyone else said, the shoes fit too small. I wear 7½ dress shoes, 8 running shoes. So, I ordered 8½ for these shoes. They fit too snugly. I should have ordered a 9.
I am a size 8, or usually a 38. Thankfully I ordered a size 40! They fit like a glove. I have never seen a sizing so wrong. Beware. Otherwise, these are best shoes ever. They are great for mtb as well.
At least a full size to small. I used the scale suggested for conversion from EU to US sizing. I'm a solid 8.5, and I usually go up to a 9 for any workout shoe, sometimes a 9.5 in running shoes. I bought the 39.0 for this biking shoe...way too small...closer to a 7 if I had to guess. Love the style of the Pearl I's...have 2 pair of the running shoes that run very true to size so this was a bit of a shock. I teach spinning, needed a good shoe for indoor cycling. Scared to order again, as I wouldn't know where to begin?! Construction looks great, style is beautiful and functional...size is just so far off the mark, they are going back tomorrow. Very sad.
I bought this top for running outdoors. My main concerns were a small but sturdy pocket for keys and a card/some cash, and sufficient chest support (36B, so not huge, but used to wearing serious sports bras). This shirt delivers on both counts. It is also comfortable and true to size. The only reason I gave it four stars for style is that I wish there were less neon-y stripe options. Petty, I know.
This shoe really runs small. I wear an 8.5 and wound up having to order a 10. If you have wide feet and do a lot of running or walking, this shoe is not for you. I have blisters on the sides of my feet and the shock under the ball of the foot is not the best either.
I own an earlier version of the Drift and like it. But I strongly dislike this new version for a few reasons. First, the laces look cool and convenient, but it's inconvenient to pull them tight enough and it's impossible to tighten them more in the toe area, say, than in the ankle area. Second, there is very open mesh over the toes, which is just asking for my big toe to wear a hole through. Third, the fabric upper is comfortable but puts weird bulges in the interior of the shoe. The pros: the color scheme, the light weight, and the better, more accommodating fit of a trail cycle shoe over a road cycle shoe.
I felt that this shoe was less attractive in person. I'm returning it mostly due to it running small and not being particularly comfortable.
I just finished the Wildflower long Tri, and these are the shoes I elected to wear. Over Avia Conrad Stoltz, and Zoots. I can't expect more out of these. I run in the Syncrofuels on the road and a friend mentioned that the same shoe was available in a trail model. I'm a mod pronator runner, and these just flat out are comfortable fit my foot and breath nicely. If I didn't love my Pearl Izumi road shoe so much, I'd run with these on the road.
Ordered size 38 for 7.5 shoe size, at least 2 sizes too small. Will reorder a larger size because it is an awesome shoe!
This is my first pair of biking pants that I am buying - Fits great, rode 42 miles without any soreness or chafing, super comfortable. I like that it comes up high on the waist too. Only issue is that it hits in a bit of a weird place at the knee- not quite covering it, kind of in the middle. Otherwise great!
This is a fantastic cycling capri. Pearl Izumi is of course one of the best bike clothing makers out there, and they do not disappoint with these. The padding is strategically placed to cover fragile areas and is soft and strong at the same time. It makes my rides so much more comfortable. Highly recommended.
I know Pearl Izumi cuts their Pro and Elite lines (of which these knickers belong to) trimmer than their entry-level Select line, but these are really tiny! I ordered them in a small, which is my normal size (I am 5'7" 125 pounds). They were so tight in the waist that I heard some of the stitching rip as I pulled them on, which surprised me because it is a wide waistband, which I thought would be more forgiving and stretchy. The legs appeared to be all right, and were nicely shaped. Still, I would not recommend these because the cut seems off, also I owned a pair of P.I. Select Symphony bibs (same material as these) and after wearing them only a few times, a small hole developed in along some of the front stitching. I expect much better quality for something they charge so much for. I will keep searching for the perfect cycling capris.
