This is a great pack. It is not too big, but there is plenty of room for all the essentials. This is my first Osprey after a few of the other brands. Sorry I waited so long to buy this one.

I had been looking for a waist pack online that would be good for both my wife and I to use while walking and hiking and came across this product. It is very lightweight fits very comfortably around the waist, is easily adjustable and works beautifully. The extra storage space is perfect for energy bars or something similar to snack on. This is well worth the price and I highly recommend it for those on the go and are active outdoors.

Blows away my TNF box shot. Better shoulder pads that can be tucked away (use top/side handles); shell better than most; water bottle can be held in the front pocket; 2 organizer pockets for books/files/computer; no dangling hip belt because can tuck away if not in use; tucked away raincover...I can go on. Great computer or weekend pack. Love it. Make sure to size as would larger packs, i.e, if your med/large in larger packs...size is same here. Larger size means larger/longer back panel.

Love this bag! I saw it and tried it out in the store, and bought it at Zappos - for less. It is spacious, has great pocket variety and layout. Definitely need to get the hydration pack for it, as it does not fit a large 33oz water bottle well, and there are no pockets large enough for a bottle. I recommend as a great minimalist hike pack.

The product looks and functions in the advertised manner. It's a great little set. There is not any space for expansion when packing the suitcase. When packed full it can be difficult to zip, but I suppose that is to be expected. The construction is sturdy and the bags are easy to move around. Overall I am satisfied with the product.

Function tonal, durable as well as cute. Took this on a 3 week trip to the UK and France and carried it everywhere. Big enough to hold iPad, wallet, larger Canon camera and guide books- as well as all the other small stuff. Love the zippered pouch in the front and side, and the separate area on from for cell phones. Great closure (Velcro and a clicking fastener). Felt reasonably stylish- and all contents secure. I would highly recommend -- a great value as well!

This backpack is the perfect size for mountain biking and day hiking. The hydration pack is very easy to use and clean. I don't like how hard it is to get into the many pockets it has because of the buckles and how the zippers are constructed. Over all I do like this backpack and will consider buying another Osprey for multi-day trips.

Great quality, strong zippers, extra features. My 22 year old son loves it for carrying his iPad and PC while biking in the city.

If I was sent off to a desert island and given my choice of one brand of backpack I would choose Osprey hands down. In my opinion they're the best. Super quality and a great marriage of light weight and function. I had the Stratos 36 for quite a few years but had a bit of a love-hate relationship with it. The love came from the functionality. The hate came from an intermittent but persistent 'squeak' from the frame. I tried lubricants but nothing worked for long. If I packed it just right I would be okay but as one who is very sensitive to noise, particularly on the trail, it would drive me nuts. One thing Osprey does offer is a lifetime warranty on their products. I had to order parts a couple of times and they got to me quickly with no questions asked. That said, the material on my Stratos started fraying around the bottom of the frame. This wasn't from standing the pack on end because you can't do that with this design. Thankfully, the retailer I purchased it from allowed an exchange three years after the purchase. I went with the Osprey Kestrel 38. More than anything it was because of the mesh back panel which is supposed to keep you cool. Personally, I didn't like it because I prefer to feel the load against my back. Some people really like the separation of the load to their body so it's a personal choice. Overall I'd say that Stratos 36 is a good choice for the day hiker who wants the capacity to carry extra gear. I especially loved it for the winter snow hikes in the San Gabriel mountains outside of L.A. Light overnights are a possibility too although the Stratos does not come with pad straps. But again, you won't go wrong with an Osprey.

Bite valve is too large.Gizzmoe valve twist is lame and oversized.Magnet design is useless, adds weight, and not necessary. Entire bladder is strong, but heavy.Do not waste your money on this bladder.0 stars for this one.Nalgene is better at making water bottles.

I needed a bag that would hold all my purse stuff plus an iPad for the times I need to walk into work for meetings. I have a 40 minute walking commute each way. I don't like having a big thing on my back, so backpacks are out, and I like to be able to reach in easily for my phone without having to heave something off my back. Standard-sized messenger bags are overkill unless I need to take my laptop, and my leather shoulder bag wasn't cutting it. So I went searching on Zappos for a small sized messenger bag. This bag is perfect. It's very lightweight, has a very comfortable adjustable padded strap, and holds everything I need for my weekly trips. This bag will easily hold an iPad in a case, two eyeglasses cases, wallet, large cosmetic case, water bottle, compact umbrella, 5x7 notebook, and various smaller items. I like the outside zipper pocket for my phone so I don't have to open the bag when my phone rings. It has two additional zipped compartments under the flap which I also like - one of them has a hook for keys. I also really like that the lining is not black, so I can find stuff in there. It is very sturdy and well designed - it can be lifted by the handle even if the buckle isn't fastened without stuff falling out. It isn't that beautiful - I'm not crazy about the flower design printed on the outside. But it's my go-to bag for walking with a moderate load.

I love this bag. The Osprey Astro is comfortable to carry, has lots of room and plenty of pockets. I really like the zipper on the back that gives you access to the main compartment without having to completely open it. This bag is a little pricey, but well worth the extra money. Bottom line. I love this bag.

Excellent bad. Lots of great places to store computer, tablet, etc. Smaller in size, and compact. Very good if you are a minimalist that doesn't like carrying too much around. The ergonomics are excellent, it wears comfortably for long excursions.

I love this bag! It's the perfect size and the color and design is exactly what I was looking for. Most messenger bags look too masculine so I was very happy to find this cute option. Along with the dimensions listed in the description, the name has the word Mini in it so if you're looking for a larger bag, this probably wouldn't be a good choice!

This pack is great, really well built, and you get what you pay for, and for the price I was expecting good quality, this is my first pack from Osprey, I couldn't be happier. Buy this pack, you wont regret it. Plus with Ospreys warranty for a lifetime of repair, this pack will last as long as you do. I bought this pack to use for daily commuting by bike in the summer, so it needed to be big enough to store my books, laptop for class, and an extra set of clothes for the gym, or ride home. It does it all, if you manage your space you can really get a lot into this pack. In addition I also used it for a couple day hike trips, and out on the lake, it held up like a champ, used the hip belt a little and it helps keep the pack snug. I gave the pack a four star for comfort, only because of this, I loaded the pack a little heavy, 35lbs, which is a bit outside of its carrying capacity according to the scale on Osprey's site, and took it for about a mile walk just through town. Without the aid of a decent hip belt the weight became pretty uncomfortable, but that's a lot of weight for a this pack, the back panel gets hot against your back also, wish it had the ventilation system that some of their day packs have. I also was anticipating a trip to Peru, and thought it would make a great carry on bag, which after measuring it in person, it would be perfect with room to spare, especially since the straps all can be zipped away. Pros: Compressible/expandable, this is great for when I decide to use the pack for hiking or out door use and don't need as much space (for books and laptops etc.). Rain fly compresses nicely stays out of the way, haven't tested it yet, but have no doubt it will work well, the material that the pack is made out of is nearly water resistant enough. "U-Lock" pocket is great for large water bottles, and other misc. items. I used this pocket for my 48 oz nalgene, it's perfect. Lidloc works excellent. Lots of pockets that fit all my gadgets, and tools. The biggest feature that I was most surprised by was the side handle, I use it all the time for throwing my pack around or getting it in and out of the car. Cons: There isn't anything bad about this pack, only things that I would like to have on it or think they could improve upon. Hip belt is useless in my opinion, could do with out it. Cellphone pocket wont store my phone without pushing buttons on it but that's just specific to my phone, they advertise that it can hold an iPhone, and I have my doubts about that, also when you store a phone that's rigid like that in a shoulder strap that bends it kind of got uncomfortable and I don't know how much I like it (however, the key pocket is perfect). Water bottle pockets are pretty small, fit small water bottles maybe, I forget these pockets are even there because I never use them. I feel like there are too many straps and belts, maybe because I don't use the hip belt and it just gets in the way. Would like to see an addition in one of the three different openings that were created for an hydration bladder? There is a place to zip your straps into, you could put one there if you wanted, or in the laptop section. If you get creative, you can make it work though.

This is a great pack. Easy to organize. The suspension system is like no other. It allows real air circulation, yet maintains stability. I was skeptical, fearing the pack would feel like it was swinging around. I am a woman and own the Aura 50 (women-specific version of Atmos). My brother needed a pack, so I bought the Atmos 50 for him. Both packs will easily support 30+ lbs. Personally, I think if you're packing more than that, you are taking the kitchen sink. I haven't tried more weight. The padding is more than adequate for backpacking for several days. I use one of my Osprey Aura/Atmos packs I use as my Get Home Bag (i.e. 72hr bag). It's durable, yet lightweight. Get one!
