I love La Canadienne for its waterproof suede - sadly the calves on these boots were huge do they are going back.

These boots are GREAT! I wore them almost every day last winter, and they still look and feel good. They're VERY warm and dry, extremely comfortable, and stylish. Expensive but worth it.

I bought this boot for a November trip to Paris this fall. It is a little rainy at that time of year and I wanted a waterproof boot that was stylish. This boot was exactly what I was looking for. My only problem was the sizing of the boot. I wear a size 8 1/2 and had to go with the next because it was way too tight in the toe area. The boots are a little bigger than I would like, but like others who wrote, I am putting a foam insert in and that took care of the problem. Euro fit is a little different than American. The quality of the boots is excellent.

I have these boots and they're by far the most comfortable and best looking boots I've ever owned. Get tons of compliments on them and can walk much longer in them than any other heels I have. The fact they're waterproof is just a bonus but they are great to wear any time. The bottoms are very grippy so no fear of slipping while in these either! Best buy ever.

The shoe runs a little small - this was the first time I had to pick up a wide in a shoe size. Otherwise, it's almost perfect. I purchased this for a two-and-a-half week trip in Europe and it was half-rainy and half-sunny the whole time. When it rained, it poured, but these shoes worked really well. (I had wanted La Canadienne specifically because of them being comfortable and waterproof.) My feet stayed dry the whole time. I actually have owned a previous La Canadienne that I picked up on super sale from Nordstrom; those were my favorite boots ever. But I left them behind on another trip (curse!) so I've been purchasing and returning this brand's shoes for about four or five pairs now, before finding the right one - go Zappos awesome free return/delivery service!

I want to love this boot, but it's just okay. I ordered them because I was looking for a snug fit around my calf, but it's still too big and the boots bunch around my ankles (which I hate). I hate the suede. Gets very dirty and shows every mark. Wish they came in leather. I will keep them because I just need something...but I will not order again and would advise anyone else looking for a snug fit around the calf to keep searching.

I mispoke on the previous review. I wear a 7.5 but had to return the 7.5 for a 7 to get the right fit in these gorgous boots!

Wow, I'd never spent this much money on a shoe, or boot. But I had acquired some very lovely vintage dresses and they required just the right boot. I searched and searched, taxing Zappos with about 5 other shipments of tal black boots until I found these. I wore these throughout the winter with long sleeved 70s dresses and sweater dresses and they are stunning! Their comfort is not to be surpassed. The leather is supple. The insole supports the foot marvelously. The heal isn't too high, and it's sturdy. The toe has a very lady like roundness. The height is perfect, coming up past mid calf,(I'm 5'5") and the fit around the calf is just perfect to wear with tights (I'd consider myself athletic, not skinny with calves of the same description). I love these boots! They really do look and feel expensive. :) So, naturally they don't fail to be noticed. I'm a teacher and wow, did heads turn when I walked into the building in these. :)

I've been on the hunt for a well-fitting, comfortable and feminine knee-high boot. The Passion is really flattering, form fitting to my leg. I have pretty curvy calves and it was easy to put on. Sadly, I'm returning it because it's suede instead of leather, and really wish they made this in an espresso or black leather.

I bought these in brown and black and absolutely adore them. Normally a size 8.5, I ordered that size and my heart fell as I had difficulty zipping them. I had read on Amazon that they do stretch out, so I wore skimpy socks with them first and within two weeks, they fit perfectly, like gloves, even with my Smartwool socks on. I've worn them in rain, in rough muddy areas. They are treated and wash quite well, still look new. Only word of caution is that this is too much heel for a walking shoe. For limited walking to a few miles and for normal bustling about, they are fine. But if you are a heavy walker (or for travel), probably best to get a shoe with less heel. I have horrible feet. It's a relief to find something so stylish to wear! The suede is so soft. Great shoes! (You can find these steeply discounted off season, so it's worth keeping an eye out for sales.)

What a beautiful boot. I squeezed my 16 inch calves into the size 9 wide with some difficulty. Zipper is helpful. However there is a gusset, so the tight fit is okay. I'm pretty sure they'll stretch out a bit in time. The look dressy, but are as comfortable as can be. I really appreciate the round toe box and ample room for toes. I have had a lower lace up La Canadienne style for years, and in addition to being really comfortable, they've lasted in through many winters, and several heel replacements.

The laces on this boot are purely decorative, and don't provide any fit adjustment. The fit slightly small. They are better looking and more structured than Uggs, but just as fuzzy. I tried them, but I kept a different La Canadienne style, not this one.

Just received these yesterday, and I can say that my search for boots with a shaft narrow enough for my slender calves is over! After trying on over 2 dozen boots, these are the ones! I love that they are weatherproof, I am sure they will come in handy when the snow rolls around next year. Amazingly fast shipping to APO in Germany, Zappos! Thanks!

These are stylish and comfortable. I did order up a half size because the calf was too narrow in the 7. I was just able to zip up the 7.5. I don't have huge calves, but they're not skinny, either. The 7 actually fit my foot fine--I put an insole in the 7.5's to make them fit better.

This is a beautiful, elegant boot. It's great for work, in my case, as I'm in a pretty conservative office. They're true to size, I found, and very comfortable. There's no break in period. I have fairly athletic calves, probably around 14.5 inches around at the widest part. The boots fit great, though they are a little loose at the very top (past the widest part of my calf) with tights, but I'm ok with it because I've had tighter fitting boots, and it's the worst feeling ever when it's squeezing your leg too tight! It's like having a toothache! I wear an 8.5 and have high arches. The boot fits great in my size, though I might have even been able to go down a half size, I didn't bother. There's no heel slippage, which I sometimes find happens to me due to my arches. They're very high quality; I'm glad I found them!

These are beautiful boots! They are well worth the investment. Something that isn't clear from the description: they're lined with a nice fabric that hugs my legs and feet but doesn't make my feet sweat, even indoors all day. They fit my skinny calves pretty well -- not a big gap like most boots -- but they've got a good elastic gore if you have wider calves. I'm petite (5' 2"), and these are good for my height: there are a few inches between the top of the boot and my knee, so I don't look like Christopher Robin in his great big waterproof boots. I removed the foot bed and use my own orthotic, but they're very comfy with the foot bed as well. I wear these for work and for play, but I won't wear them for long walks in the mud because I want them to remain elegant and appropriate for dressing up. These are really comfortable, functional, and elegant -- I'm delighted.

Very tight at first, but after a month of wear over tights or leggings, I am able to zip them up over jeans. These are close to the perfect boot!

Great shoe! This shoe is great for me, who has a wide wide foot. So, if you're med or narrow, you may be out of luck! I have a really hard time finding shoes, often requiring a WW. But, looking at the style and reviews of "Gina" I thought maybe she'd work for me...and she does! The black microfiber is stretchy to accommodate my WW foot, but still supports and streamlines my foot so it doesn't look like Fred Flintstone's foot! I do wish there was more padding under the ball of my foot, but it's not bad. I'm short, so hate flats. "Gina" offers a nice lift without the compromise of wearing high heels. I wear these shoes with jeans and with dress pants to work. It's sort of a chameleon shoe - it's not noticeable and sort of blends into black pants. I wear my pants long, therefore this shoe gives the illusion of a boot.

This is a really beautiful pair of boots! I bought a second pair of La C's based on my experience with this pair. They are very comfortable. The heel is solid and the outline of the boot is very sleek. I have a 14.5" calf and can just get the zippers done. I think it was this boot that another 5'2" person complained that the boot hit the back of her knee when she walked. I don't have this problem. I was a bit sad I discovered these close to a short winter season. I wouldn't have minded wearing them for longer.

I ordered these boots to replace a similar pair in suede. I was surprised that they didn't have a zipper, but this is an advantage -- no more snagging my hose when crossing my legs! One review complained of the smell of the fabric. I haven't noticed this. Another complained they make a funny noise when the calves rub together. I guess it depends on how you walk -- not an issue with me. I have a 14.5 inch calf and these stay up really well. I'm 5'2" and these are not too long. They are really beautifully shaped and have a comfortable, stable base. They are also really expensive. I debated a few days before wearing them whether they are worth the money. I'm very happy with them, but I do suspect you can find just as nice a boot for a more reasonable price, hence the 4 star overall rating.
