This is the first running shoe I have bought from Salomon. Though I've had wonderful winter boots from that company. I like the Salomon X-Mission 3 particularly for cross-terrain running. I think the shoe performs extremely well on sandy trails and gravel. If you only run on asphalt I'd probably go with a different model, because this model's soles provide more traction than I like when running on only asphalt. I also plan to use these for light hiking. And you cannot beat the color and the roomy toe box. I also love the lacing system. I know some people don't like the lacing system so much; so I guess it's a personal preference.

Fit was great, insoles are nice and cushy. Knew they were right as soon as I tried them on. Nice amount of wiggle room for toes without being sloppy. Really like the look of them too.

Probably the best fitting shoe I've owned. I've got relatively flat feet with narrow ankles. Most shoes fit too loosely around my heel and ankle. These are like a glove, nice and snug but not cramped anywhere. Also like the quick lace system, which I originally assumed I'd not care for. Haven't had long enough to say how they hold up over time, but initial impression is they are well made.

Salomon trail hiking boots are the only boots I will buy. They are durable and made to the highest quality. Be sure to spend the extra few bucks it takes to get them waterproof. These boots are comfortable and true to size and I can highly recommend them.

I have neuropathy and finding the correct shoes has been a unenviable task. That said these shoes fit as you think they should both length and width in addition to excellent cushion support. The lacing system is fine and will provide a benefit if you travel. If they had another color I would buy it.

These are great! Took them right out of the box and onto a 6 mile hike with no break-in period needed. They have a really solid sole while still feeling more like a sneaker than a boot. I would say they are a smidge wider than other shoes, but hardly worth mentioning especially if you wear more substantial socks. As an added bonus, they're not as tragically ugly as a lot of it's counterparts. I definitely back this shoe!

I have owned two pairs of XA Pro 3D's in the past. It appears that they changed the design of the footbed. In multiple sizes that I tried, there was a hard bump on the inside of the heel area. It may be intended for arch support, but it's not positioned in a way that it felt comfortable to me no matter what I tried. The shoe is either narrower than it used to be, or there was a design change. Either way, the inside of my foot hurt after just a few minutes of trying them on. I even tried the wider size, but it did not make a difference. Disappointed, as everything about this shoe was perfect.

Very happy with these new Salomon boots. I've used these on dry pavement, muddy trails, sharp lava rock, wet rocks (not recommended in any shoe), and dry loose-rock cliffs. These have a great grip and strong support for your sole and ankles. I usually buy shoes with a wider toe box, which most hiking shoes I've tried don't have, so these were a pleasant surprise. They run a little wide, but the laces allow you to tighten up to your preference. Also, they're super light, so it doesn't feel like you're dragging your feet.

Very comfortable shoe! I run trails about 4 days a week and there were certain areas that no matter what shoe I wore, I would slip or loose traction and I don't get that with this shoe. The grip and comfort is incredible. The only reason it got 4 stars, instead of 5, is because it is labelled water resistant and my feet get wet if I run when it rains. I guess the water resistant is only for wet grass and gravel???

Snug as a bug in a rug :) This shoe was recommended in an ultra running forum I use and they were spot on. It fits like a glove. Amazing cushion, grip and fit. It would accommodate a standard width foot as well as a narrow foot. I love the lacing system.

This GTX absolutely fit differently than the standard speedcross 4. It was not as comfortable at the upper and was larger.

I have worn these in Nepal, India, Bhutan, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and China and I LOVE them. They are GREAT for mucking through wet, dry, rain, mud, rocks, dirt roads and jungle. I bought them expressly for wearing when I knew I would not be on nice paved sidewalks and they have not disappointed. I am constantly kicking rocks or a stair step and my toes do not take the brunt...the shoe does. I have worn them in decent rainfall in the jungle and they stay dry. I have stomped through large puddles and found them to be very effective in keeping moisture out. I have NOT stood in knee-deep water to test them, but they are not rated for that. Upon purchase I pulled out the liner they came with and put in my Dr. Scholl's inserts. The combination has been perfect, and I only need change the inserts every few weeks. I have a narrow heel and the shoe stays on just fine. They look good, they feel great and they are perfect for getting around safely on wet rocks and wood piers. Hoping they are made a few more years because I will likely need a new pair in the next few years. While not uncomfortable in the city, they are not my preference for city walking....not enough cushion to blunt the force of sidewalks.

I love the Salomon X-Mission 3. I do a lot of running on dirt roads (50 mi/week) and this shoe has served me well. I always order a 1/2 size big because it runs small if you use a wool performance sock. Zappos service was awesome and got my shoes to me in time to break them in before a marathon.

Nice firm foot base while keeping flexible upper. Fast quick lace with comfortable adjacent padding and and foot bed insert. The GORETEX liner is a big plus in rain or walking on wet ground cover/grass. I like the reflective accents on the outer sides but would also add one the the rear facing at heel.

Great shoes. I hiked in Arches National Park and the soles stuck to the rocks so could get around easier without falling or sliding. They fit well, breathe well and I will probably buy another pair, just in case.

These continue to be my "go-to" hiking/walking shoes. The narrower last is perfect for my low volume foot. They fit snugly without having to really cinch down on the laces, so they're super comfortable. They are a bit warm, but I'm willing to put up with that for the great support.

It served it's purpose, which was to keep me hidrated. I used on a flat trial run. I was looking for something light and easy to grab water bottle and found this one. It is light and I like that as you drink it contents the bottle shrinks or collapses but it could be quite uncomfortable to hold in ones hand on a 10k run, it to long and it does bounces, then again it's.not designed for that, it's supposed to go in one of Salomon's belts or vests but I just didn't want to invest on any of those. For that race I wore one of my ciclyng shirts I thought the back pockets would hold it, it didn't, it bounced a lot with every step it actually flew out of the pocket after mere 100metters!! Again it's not designed for that. I think if used as intended or as directed it would be a great water bottle. I just wish I had bought the little one, that am sure it would've stayed inside my shirt pockets. Hint there's a new model with a wide mouth that it way easier to refill and add ice on those quick stops at water stations on races. Ovarall good, easy to use, just watch out for sharp and pointy objects they could puncture itand damage itfor good.

First off, I'm not a runner. I use these for light hiking and think they're great. Light as air, good grip in wet or dry. Enough support for a pack with food, water and a rain coat. The sole on the 3s wasn't very durable. The 4s have a new material. Time will tell if its better.

I love these shoes! I ran for years in the Speedcross until I rolled my ankles too many times. The Speedtrak has the same last and fit of the Speedcross that I love but with a much smaller heel-toe drop and less stacked heel, making it much more stable. The tread is slightly too aggressive but I think that's better than not aggressive enough, and it handles mud, snow, and rocky terrain like a champ. I wish Salomon would make these in more colors!

I was looking for a waterproof shoe to run on wet grass. Waterproof was important. Reviews on several sites said this was the most waterproof. They are definitely not waterPROOF, more water RESISTANT. My toes were still soaked after my first run. Also, they are narrow - my wide feet are squished. I have a foot length of a size 7 but have to order a size 8 for extra width in most shoes that don't come with a wide option. My feet are still squished. Also, they're very stiff so far, but I've only worn them once. They aren't very comfortable but they do the required job, which is to keep my regular running shoes from getting destroyed by wet grass. The price is pretty good for a running shoe of any kind tho.
