Etro

Etro Logo
Etro began in 1968 when its founder Gerolamo "Gimmo" Etro, a world traveler educated in economics, established his own prêt-à-porter and haute couture textile company. He launched a range of fabrics using refined, natural fibers, which he embellished with vibrant colorways.

The Milanese Etro Headquarters, located on Via Spartaco, was completely renovated in 1977 in order to provide a larger space for the growing design team. The furnishing textiles line made its debut in 1981 and was inspired by a trip to India. The paisley design motif used to enrich the first collection was set to form the brand's identity.

Leather goods were added to the product range in 1984 with a handbag and travel bag collection, crafted from Paisley Jacquard fabrics. The 1990s saw the unveiling of the first men's and women's prêt-à-porter collections, leading to the brand's first fashion show at Milan Fashion Week in 1996.

Etro is identified primarily by its founder, but today the company is managed by his four children: Jacopo, who manages its textiles, leather goods, and home collections; Kean, who is responsible the menswear collections; Veronica, who overseas the women's collections; and Ippolito, who is CEO.

Etro creates modern and elegant shoes suitable for both day and evening wear. From vibrant high-tops and sneakers to elegant and modern oxfords, Etro has a style for every occasion. Etro's impeccable footwear is for those who demand quality and style.
