About Anuschka Handbags
During the 1980's, Anuschka® handbags founder, Swapan Basu, chanced upon the opportunity to make hand painted accessories; he quickly accepted and sought the help of his best friend and wife, Roma. In 1984 she began designing Anushcka's® signature hand painted bags, all the while developing and refining the method of painting over the years. Today, the perfected process used on their handbags is a closely guarded family secret. Their son, Bhaskar, wanted to keep the family business alive, and through his vision, Basu Corporation was founded and in the year 2000 sold its first Anuschka® handbag. Bhaskar encouraged the use of bold new designs to push the handbag company into mainstream fashion.
Given the extent of the process used, it was hard to find artists that were willing to spend hours in a factory painting these elaborate designs on handbags. When faced with the challenge, Anuschka's® co-founder, Roma, set out to look for unemployed youths with a basic sense of art and an eagerness to make an honest living. Through her search she recruited a handful of boys and girls who were either unemployed, socially backward or barely making minimum wage. Today, Anuschka® continues to afford these young artists the chance to make a good living and provide for their family through painting handbags.
Translated, Anuschka® means "like no other". The first time you lay eyes on these truly unique handbags, you will undoubtedly agree that that is the perfect descriptoion of this line of hand painted bags. Anuschka® handbags are crafted from superior quality soft cow leather. The line features a wide array of bags and accessories, ranging from cosmetic cases and checkbook holders to everyday totes and evening bags. This bag holds a lot and has three outside compartments as well as two major inside compartments. The latter is possible due to its unique fold-over design. The artwork is exceptional and I want to protect it. But where, oh where, can I purchase the Anuschka Leather Protector spray?
I absolutely love this bag. I got the antique rose design, there are so many pockets with zippers inside and out and there is one slip pocket on the front prefect for my phone. It is very well made and worth the money. I have had so many compliments even one from a man. It is one I will not be putting in the bag drawer for quite some time. The handles are the perfect length also.
Love it, love it, love it! I have never spent this much $ on a purse before but this one is worth every penny. Even better than pictured or described. Small but room enough for everything I need. Beautiful construction.
I ordered this handbag last week, after much searching online for the perfect bag. I just received it, and I am thrilled! It is absolutely beautiful, and so unique! The leather is soft and a very high quality. This is my second Anuschka bag, and it won't be my last!
This is the most gorgeous wallet. It is compact yet holds my checkbook and credit cards with room to spare.

I was looking for a higher end checkbook wallet as a weight loss present for myself and was a little wary of the Anuschka line, but ultimately thought they were very unique and purchased this model. Any hesitancy I had was completely unjustified - the pictures are insufficient to show the real beauty of this piece! It is gorgeously painted, with flat and metallic colors and real artistry in the application (no mass production here, you can see brush strokes). The craftsmanship is also excellent, with even, tight leather stitching and lining that is excellent quality and doesn't bubble, ripple, or gap. Despite how fragile the paintings look (Anuschka makes a protective spray for them, if need be, otherwise the wallet can be wiped down with a damp cloth), it is actually a beefy clutch at the end of the day. My wallets take a beating and this one has stood up marvelously, while looking both unique and lovely in the process. I am sold on this line, it is 10 times more impressive in person than online and they have made a repeat customer out of me, someone who favored plain leather and traditional forms on purses and wallets before.
I bought this to accompany 480 (also in Premium Rose Antique), but whereas 480 holds all my knitting supplies and current project (see Zappos review), this East-West Organizer is my portable office/overnighter. Front zippered flap holds credit cards, ID, checkbook, pen, coin purse, and facial tissues, so no wallet is needed. (For security, I simply carry this side toward my body.) Inside, one zippered section holds my iPad, iPod, and their respective chargers, with room to spare. The other zippered section holds a cosmetic case and a change of undies. To tell the truth, I'm having trouble filling it up, with its soft leather sides and its little interior pockets. I like that the strap adjusts with a slider so I can go from crossbody to snug up under my elbow. Between this and the matching 480, I can take off at a moment's notice and have everything I need to be productive, amused, and self-sufficient. Thank you, Anuschka. And thank you, Zappos.

Bought this for my granddaughter's 18th birthday and she was thrilled. I personally have owned one for several years. The excellent quality, the multitude of compartments and the unique colorful design makes this a perfect functional accessory.
I love this bag! It is the perfect size for me. It is large enough to hold the essentials but small enough to keep the unnecessary stuff out. The craftsmanship and hand painted design is as beautiful in person as online. I am so glad that I purchased this purse.
This is an absolutely beautiful handbag. The art work is creative and the colors brilliant. The leather is soft and supple, and despite its size, is very light-weight. The handles are very sturdy and can be worn over the shoulder as well as in the crook of the arm. There are plenty of pockets and zippered compartments to keep me organized. My only complaint is the depth of the bag. Even with all my stuff in it (and thers's a lot), there's so much room near the top, that it flops over when I set it down, a minor irritation.
I bought this bag, over three years ago. (Being brought up with Peacocks all around, I had to have it.) It is the perfect size, and has so many different pockets and sections, you can keep everything in its place. It shows a little wear now, but I feel it gives it character, and the leather is now softened up. Well worth the price.
For some time I've been looking for a lightweight, spacious, versatile leather bag that can sit on the floor beside me, holding my knitting equipment and, with panache, dispensing my current project. Anuschka's #480 fills the bill perfectly. Whereas a hobo might not open widely enough, #480 yawns just right. Its dual rope handles dangle on either side as my bag gapes patiently at my feet--all the better to rummage around in, my dears. Anuschka is an extravagance for such a purpose, you say? Ah well, the truth is that the knitting is merely the excuse. I just love the look, feel, and smell of these wonderful bags, and I can only carry one at a time. This one's my house pet. Hubby thinks they're too flamboyant (so I should settle for sedate?), but I say, hey, I'm a girl! And this girl loves Anuschka.

I bought this bag for a gift. I have anothe Anuschka handbag and I love it. This is a beautiful bag with vibrant colors. These handbags are absolutely gorgeous! I get lots of compliments on mine and I'm sure she will on this one too.
One more thing to add about this bag. The colors are much richer in person than it shows in the photo.
